ALYSSA MOSSMAN
Alyssa is pursuing a major in Labour Studies and a minor in Dialogue. She started her career in the non-profit space, and she is continually searching for meaningful engagement. This past year as a full-time student, she has volunteered with Oceanwise, served as a youth facilitator for CityHive, and is involved with the Contract Worker Justice campaign on campus. Recently, she has been taking cold ocean dips, learning to box, and spending time with her baby niece!
It's an honour to receive this award, and I extend my thanks to CUPE 23 and the award adjudication committee. It is a privilege to pursue higher learning and engage in meaningful work that aligns with my values. During my classes, I am continually reminded that this is far from an accessible reality for many. As this award commemorates Gary Campbell's identity as a labour activist, I think it is essential to call attention to those workers around us who have been and continue to be left behind in the labour movement, such as workforces with high numbers of students, women, and racialized folks. I encourage members of the 間眅埶AV community to learn about and support the organizing of Contract Worker Justice and TSSU!
A number of awards are available each year to students in the Labour Studies Program. To learn more or to apply, visit our Awards and Funding page.
