The world of work is changing. Be part of a program that equips you with the knowledge and experience you need to make sense of the future of work. At the heart of Labour Studies is a commitment to the experiences of working people and their organizations, and to a more equal society. Our interdisciplinary program analyzes changing labour markets, the role and importance of the labour moment, and how they are impacted by processes such as technological and environmental change, globalization and migration.
Our degrees are designed to connect you with contemporary labour issues through multidisciplinary courses and experiential learning. Our Steering and Advisory committees provide guidance and support from scholars with varied research backgrounds, and from those on the front lines of the labour movement.
Brought to you by working people - The Labour Studies Program at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV is one of a small number in Canada, and is the only one of its kind in B.C. In 2018 Labour Studies launched its major, adding to the minor and certificate programs and allowing future generations of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV students to specialize in the areas of work, employment, working-class culture and the labour movement. The development of this program would not have been possible without the generous support of worker and labour activist Margaret Morgan and her husband Lefty. Learn more about the Morgans on our history page.
