Congratulations to Sukhjit Chohan, one of our MA candidates, who has been accepted to pursue a PhD in the Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill in Montreal, startingSeptember 2015. Sukhjit has also won a major award, the SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship valued at $20,000 per year for four years.

Sukhjit's research will consider India's 1961 annexation of Portuguese Goa as a case study to examine the convergence between decolonization and the Cold War. He hopes his research will contribute to understanding the Cold War in the Third World as part of a greater transnational history that is multi-polar rather than bi-polar in scope.

Sukhjit is a graduate of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV History's B.A. program ('13) and will defend his M.A. thesis in August 2015.
