The Department of History is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tina Adcock to the position of Assistant Professor.
Dr. Adcock comes to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV from the University of Maine, where she held a tenure-track position in History and Canadian Studies. A specialist in the history of the Canadian North, Dr. Adcock completed her doctorate at the Scott Polar Research Institute at the University of Cambridge, and has since held post-doctoral fellowships at UBC and Rutgers.
Dr. Adcock’s first book manuscript, currently under revision, focuses on the culture of northern Canadian exploration in the first half of the twentieth century. Her latest project examines fur trapping by sojourners in the Western Canadian Arctic and Subarctic during the twentieth century. Some of her other research interests include the history of northern field science, travel, and tourism; American military attempts to understand northern environments in the mid-twentieth century; and the comparative history of postwar Arctic field science in different circumpolar nations.
