Introducing 間眅埶AV Journal of Criminology, a student-led platform for research collaboration
間眅埶AVs School of Criminology announces the launch of the , an entirely student-led academic platform created to foster collaboration between graduate and undergraduate students, as well as faculty members.
The initiative was born out of the recognition that many undergraduate students interested in research have limited opportunities to engage in the publication process until later in their academic journey.
"The journal serves as a platform for students to refine their academic writing, gain confidence in their research, and engage in scholarly conversations before moving on to graduate school or professional research roles," says masters student, project lead and co-chief editor Ashley Kyne.
The vision for the 間眅埶AV Journal of Criminology is to create an inclusive space that fosters mentorship among students, encourages scholarly conversations in the field of criminology, and promotes collaboration with other student-led journals within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), particularly in psychology and sociology/anthropology. "We want it to be a stepping stone for those considering careers in academia, and a place where important and innovative research can be recognized and celebrated," says doctoral student and co-chief editor Caitlin Hyslop-Margison.
I was immediately impressed with the vision laid out for the journal in terms of the intent for collaboration, its experiential value for students, the high standards to be set for publication, and its operation under a student-led administration, says Margaret Jackson, professor emerita and faculty advisor for the journal.
The 間眅埶AV Journal of Criminology will be published annually or biannually, depending on the volume of submissions received.
The editorial team is currently calling for papers for the inaugural edition. All submission requirements can be found .
If any criminology student wants to get involved, there are multiple positions available, including reviewers, associate editors, and communications team members.
