Indigenous Peoples Day: 22 Leaders, Knowledge-Keepers and Trailblazers to Watch

Sxwpilema谩t Siy谩m (Chief Leanne Joe) a Hereditary Chief of the Squamish Nation and Transformative Storyteller has been identified as "one to watch" by the Vancouver Economic Commission. Noted for being "passionately committed to building self-reliance, resilience and tools to build a broad, systems thinking and storytelling-based framework for reconciliation", she is honored to be included in the list of people described as "Indigenous leaders in the community who work daily to increase the visibility and inclusion of Indigenous individuals and businesses, smash stereotypes, build wealth and prosperity for Indigenous communities, and educate people about the rich cultural traditions and storied history of local Nations".

How do businesses take action towards economic reconciliation that goes beyond checking a box? Join Sxwpilema谩t Siy谩m (Chief Leanne Joe, Squamish Nation) for a session where she will discuss the learnings and content of the Economic Reconciliation Framework in BC, based on convenings with Indigenous thought leaders and community economic development practitioners from across the province.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of what transformative economic reconciliation looks like, and invitations for how businesses and individuals can commit to this journey of economic reconciliation. Following a presentation of the framework there will be some small-group discussions and a Q&A period.
