The BCAK - Craig Asmundson Undergraduate Bursary in Kinesiology
The BCAK - Craig Asmundson Annual Undergraduate Bursary was established at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in 2015 with a generous five year commitment from the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists. The bursary is intedned to offer financial assistance to a Kinesiology student in financial need.
One bursary, valued at a minimum of $1,000, will be granted annually in any term to an undergraduate student who meets the following criteria:
- is enrolled in full-time courses in the Bachelor of Science degree program in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology;
- has a declared major in Kinesiology;
- is in good academic standing; and
- has demonstrated financial need.
The bursary will be administered by the office of Financial Aid and Awards and granted by the Senate Undergraduate Awards Adjudication Committee.

About Craig Asmundson and The British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK)
This award has been established by the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK) in hnour of Craig Asmundson's contributions to Kinesiology education and practice in British Columbia. Craig is a graduate of both the BSc and Msc Kinesiology programs at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and long-time senior lecturer with the Department. He was the Chair of the Kinesiology Undergraduate Program Committee from 1991 to 1995, and from 2000 to 2004. In 1991, he was one of five founding directors of the BCAK, and its President from 1993 - 1995.
The BCAK promotes Kinesiology as a valuable and cost effective health care service for the people of BC. It also supports the advancement of the profession; provides resources for its members to assist them in practice; and provides information about the profession Kinesiology to the public, governments and other stakeholders. The BCAK is affiliated with the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance, a not-for-profit corporation that promotes the profession nationally.
