Biography
My name is Rajveena and I graduated from ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV KIN in 2018. Right after my graduation I completed the post graduate certification with ASCM in Clinical Exercise Physiology (CEP). I worked as a CEP with LIVE WELL Exercise clinic where I did 2 of my co-ops as a Kinesiolgosist for a few years. In 2021 I switched over to the Disability Management side of Kinesiology and started working at ICBC as Senior Support & Recovery Specialist.
QUESTIONS
1) What is your current position? What does a typical work day look like for you?
I currently work at ICBC as Senior Support & Recovery Specialist. Our role is to assist customers who have been injured in a motor vehicle accident with their recovery to their pre-accident health. This is done via case management to ensure functional goals are aligned and appropriate treatments/benefits are being accessed.
2) How did your education in BPK influence your career?
The knowledge gained in human anatomy and rehabilitation gave me a great foundation to apply to help others in their own recovery journeys. Learning about empathy has helped me in all my jobs I have had.
3) Who in BPK had an impact on you and why?
The various professors and the co-op team helped me realize there are other options out there that a Kinesiology degree can lead to.
4) What is your favourite memory of your time at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV as an undergraduate?
My favourite memories would be those created in my co-op terms. Most notably I did a term with the Developmental Disability Association which not only was very fun but also knowledgeable and rewarding.
5) What advice would you give to today’s BPK student?
I would advise to try out co-op as there are many options out there that a kinesiology degree can lead to. And to keep an open mind to all avenues, as sometimes what you think you will end up doing after graduation may not be what you continue doing in the long run!
