QUESTIONS

1) What is your current position? What does a typical work day look like for you?

I am currently the Program Head and an Instructor in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at BCIT.  I teach several different cardiac pathophysiology courses, and help teach in the cardiac ultrasound lab. I also have many administrative duties, which can range from HR duties, meetings with students, future program planning etc.

2) How did your education in BPK influence your career?

I was lucky enough to get a job as a Kinesiologist at a private clinic. While I worked at this clinic, I learned that I had a real love for the heart and learned more about other types of jobs that existed. It was through my job at Medisys that I learned about echocardiography.

3) Who in BPK had an impact on you and why?

I remember really enjoying cardiac anatomy with Dr. Tibbits, as well as courses with Mr. Asmundson and Dr. Ward.

4) What is your favourite memory of your time at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV as an undergraduate?

I swam on the swim team, played waterpolo, and was a lifeguard up at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. I also lived in residences for the first few years. My favorite memories are participating in sports and being with friends.

5) What advice would you give to today’s BPK student?

Give your career time, and remember every job along the way will help you get one step closer to your dream job. Be patient.
