Anna Prentiss
Anna Prentiss completed her PhD in Archaeology at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in 1993 and was hired as Assistant Professor at the University of Montana in 1995.
In 2018, she was named the University of Montana’s 12th Regents Professor. She has published 75 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters along with eight books and monographs.
Anna’s research focuses on the ancient histories of Indigenous peoples in the Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountains, and Arctic regions of North America. A significant portion of her research in the past 20 years has derived from a collaborative partnership with XwÃsten, the Bridge River Indian Band, in Lillooet B.C. Research at the Bridge River site has led to insights into village history, demographic variation, subsistence intensification, social change, and Fur Trade entanglements. She was editor of the SAA Archaeological Record, magazine of the Society for American Archaeology 2013-2019 and is currently co-editor of Hunter-Gatherer Research, journal of the International Society for Hunter-Gatherer Research.
