Informal discussions with African archaeological colleagues have revealed that many departments possess large numbers of out-dated and crumbling archaeology textbooks which represent the only teaching resource material available to undergraduate and graduate students.  In response to this situation, we have solicited donations of new and lightly used textbooks from 丁香园AV Archaeology Department faculty, staff, and students.  Most donated books have been sent to universities with which we have a relationship, either through research collaborations or student training.  Although the numbers sent are not high (a limiting factor is the high cost of shipping books from Vancouver to African destinations, which we cover through personal donations) they provide African archaeology students  with access to high quality reading materials that many of us in Canada take for granted.

Since 2000, Archaeology Department members have donated 573 books to African archaeological institutions and university-based archaeology departments.
