Field trip to Stanley Park

A group of students met at the A-frame Field House with artist-in-resident . Genevieve shares her studio with , a group of artists, ecologists, and other entities who promote healthy longterm co-existence between species. After discussing Genevieve's art practice, we met with the rest of the class and artist , who gave us a tour through the park, pointing out indigenous plants, and sharing histories and stories about the park.
From Lauraleigh Paul and Celina Starnes the class learned about the ecosystem of the park and how the realizes various projects including raising awareness of and respect for the natural world. As an organization they play a leadership role in the stewardship of Stanley Park through collaborative initiatives in education, research and conservation.
