¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Requirements
To be admitted, students must possess a bachelor's degree and have been admitted to the Professional Development Program (option A) or admitted to the Professional Linking Program (option B).
Program Requirements
Option A
Students in this option, who will have been admitted to the Professional Development Program, will complete a total of 45 upper division units in education. Any additional course work needed to address academic requirements for a professional certificate and additional requirements to complete a minor must be completed over and above the required 45 upper division units.
Students complete all of
- EDUC 401W-8 Introduction to Classroom Teaching
- EDUC 402W-7 Studies of Educational Theory and Practice
- EDUC 404 Coursework Seminar (15 EDUC upper division units minimum will be completed within this course)
- EDUC 405-15 Teaching Semester
- a minor from the Faculty of Education (see below)
Option B
Students in this option, who will have been admitted to the Professional Linking Program, will complete a total of 48 upper division units in education. Any additional course work needed to address academic requirements for a professional certificate and additional requirements to complete a minor must be completed over and above the required 48 upper division units.
Students complete all of
- EDUC 402W-7 Studies of Educational Theory and Practice
- EDUC 403-11 Studies in Teaching and Learning
- EDUC 404 Coursework Seminar (15 EDUC upper division units minimum will be completed within this course)
- EDUC 405-15 Teaching Semester
- One of the following minors from the Faculty of Education:
Counselling and Human Development Minor Program
Curriculum and Instruction Minor Program
Early Learning Minor Program
Educational Psychology Minor Program
Elementary Generalist Secondary Teaching Minor Program
Environmental Education Minor Program
French Education Minor Program
French Education Minor Program with Explore Program at Université Laval
International and Global Education Minor Program
Learning and Developmental Disabilities Minor Program
Physical Education Minor Program
Secondary Mathematics Education Minor Program
Secondary Teaching Minor Program
- one of EDUC 401W, 403
- both of EDUC 402W, 405
- a minimum of 54 units in upper division courses (numbered 300 and 400), excluding EDUC 401W, 402W, 403, 405 and 406
- two of EDUC 220, 230, 240 or 250
- a minimum of 24 units of upper division education (excludes EDUC 401W, 402W, 403, 405 and 406) which must include two education designs for learning courses (may include courses completed for EDUC 404 and the education minor)
- both a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 and a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 calculated on all upper division courses completed at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV

Writing, Quantitative, and Breadth Requirements
Students admitted to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV beginning in the fall 2006 term must meet writing, quantitative and breadth requirements as part of any degree program they may undertake. See Writing, Quantitative, and Breadth Requirements for university-wide information.
WQB Graduation Requirements A grade of C- or better is required to earn W, Q or B credit. |

Residency Requirements and Transfer Credit
The University’s residency requirement stipulates that, in most cases, total transfer and course challenge credit may not exceed 60 units, and may not include more than 15 units as upper division work.
