COMMENTARY
1. This was the largest waterfall recorded on Pennine Way.
2. Interesting take: note the feeling of going on a soundwalk with the recordist. Footsteps sound less stagnant than usual, because recordist moves away from falls, past a creek, stops to listen to an owl and other birds. The sense of space is increased because a lot happens on the way.
3. Generalized quiet ambience. Quarry is in the distance, activity hardly audible. The occasional sheep, bird or tractor give a nice sense of distance. Slight wind gradient shifts the spectrum of quarry sound.
4. Quarry is much quieter from this place. Ambience is extremely quiet, except for the sudden surprising bleating of a sheep towards the end of take.
5. Women talking about sizes, colours, fabrics. Dry, warm ambience characteristic of low-ceilinged room with wooden floors and wall surfaces.
6. One or two deep, resonant voices stand out from the general babble (all men ambience). This pub was small (about 20' by 5'). This sequence is quite tiring to listen to, possibly due to the relatively unchanging dynamic levels and a certain monotony of resonant frequencies in some voices, creating a drone-type effect. Also a very dry, warm, quiet ambience underneath the voices.
