8. HIGH FORCE WATERFALL
COMMENTARY
1. High, piercing spectrum. This waterfall drops about 100' into an amphitheatre -type formation (a horseshoe-shaped gorge)
2. Rocks bounce off stone walls as they fall down the pit, creating interesting rhythmic patterns. The children huddle around, listening, ("Shh!, Be quiet!") for awhile as the recordists continue to toss stones.
3,4. Lark singing in entrance foreground, shepherd slowly to dog in distance, hardly audible.
6. Note timbral differences between interior voices of recordists and exterior voice of woman by the road. Note also the quiet ambience.
7. Note intensity and timbral change in voice of the man with heavy dialect as he turns away from the microphones, a change from interior to exterior quality.
