REEL 46 COMMENTARY
1. Chimes start as levels fade up, then fairly quiet ambience with some footsteps, etc.2. Recordists entering from street, a fair amount of disturbance in first minute until recordists have settled down. This restaurant is pervaded by a very loud 60 cycle hum. Otherwise conversation, cash register ringing occasionally. Tremendous sneeze (6'40") by one of the recordists.
3. Same as above, but now with juke box. Music is fairly much in background, microphones approx. 12 feet away from speakers.
5. Recorded in outhouse, 50 feet from water. Wind, lake wash.
6. Same., higher recording levels. Very quiet ambience.
7. Conversation about tidal bore, while car is running.
8. Carillon comes on very suddenly (1'40"). Light traffic ambience throughout. First hymn ends (3'20"). Second hymn (3'25"-5'20"). Third hymn (5'30"-7'35"). Fourth hymn (7'40"-end). Kids' voices audible in background of last two hymns.
9. Clock is in Mitchell's Tourist Home, ticking and chiming 9 a.m. (0'40").
10. Not great.
