REEL 45 COMMENTARY
1. No good, microphone trouble, echo, etc.2. Guy raking leaves, dog barks. Recordists call him (1'45") to ask directions. Dog barks throughout. Car motor turned off.
5. (For details on location see data sheet.) Very noisy, broad band rumble, lots of traffic. Airplane (3'15"). People talking and walking by throughout. Fire siren passing (4'20"- 5'05"), good, except for slight distortion when it is closest. Car horn (6'25"), amazingly few car horns blowing. "Laying rubber" (6'30").
6. Jet overhead at beginning, fades out at 2'30". Meanwhile tidal wave comes closer (2'15"- 4'00") and recedes, very subtle crescendo. Gulls calling, light rain throughout. Some people talking, walking, driving off (5'30"). Car horn echoes in distance.
7. Recorded from hotel window on a Sunday morning at 8 a.m. Nice bell, lots of birds singing and a general background rumble from the city. Bell stops (2'00").
8. Microphone disturbance for 8". Same bell an hour later. Light rain in foreground and no birds at first. Traffic seems a lot louder. Car revving (1'10"-1'50") while bells are ringing. Birds singing (3'00"), as bell stops. Faint bell in distance at the end.
9. Microphone disturbance for first 10". During first two minutes faint bell from downtown church, masked mostly by traffic. This is at 11 a.m. More bells, even fainter from downtown (3'30").
10. Tune incomplete. More traffic noise.
