Teaching a Writing Intensive Course (W)
Writing-intensive courses (designated "W") are offered as one of the requirements for graduation with a Bachelor's degree at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. W courses fulfil the following conditions:
1) use of writing as a way of learning course content and appreciating writing according to disciplinary canons,
2) using examples of writing within the disciplines of Sociology and Anthropology,
3) receiving feedback on writing quality,
4) revision is built into the writing process, and
5) at least 50% of the course grade is based on written work for which students receive feedback.
A 'Marker' (graduate student) may be assigned to courses that are writing intensive.
