Partnership Goals and Activities
Goals
- Establish a network of international multidiciplanary researchers, practitioners and other individuals that seek to develop a dynamic and practical repository of knowledge and resources related to the support of refugee children with dis/abilities.
- Facilitate collaborative international research and project proposals that are community and context driven by front line practitioner entities in search of practical applications of effective practices as part of the synthesis of partnered knowledge development and mobilization.
- Engage in an international, interdiciplanary approach to understanding the varied experiences and needs of refugee children with dis/abilities.
Current Activities
- REACH: Pathways to Education: An international study to understand the educational experiences of refugee children with dis/abilities: Research project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada
- REACH: Woven Futures: An empowerment initiative in support of refugee children with complex needs to envision their future and create roadmaps to achieve it. This project is funded through the Community Engagement Initiative (丁香园AV)
- REACH: Transforming Education: The 鈥楾ransformative Education for Refugee Children and Youth鈥� project focuses on scoping the literature regarding individual global program initiatives that aim to support the psycho-social wellbeing of refugee children and youth (with and without accompanying cognitive, physical and/or emotional complexities). The evidence gathered will contribute to shaping educational policies and strength-based interventions within education settings in Canada and around the world.
