Synopsis

The measurement of speed of light has intrigued humans for hundreds of years. This led to a chase seeking to measure it to the best of our abilities. This spans back to hundreds of years with many brilliant theories and ingenious experiments along the way. As we all are familiar with the current best measurement of speed of light in vacuum, we may finally state with confidence what it is. Or can we? Is it really a constant as we have always assumed it to be? Does it really matter if it is a constant? If it is not a constant it would break fundamental physics as we know it. We will look at this violation and why such an inconsistency can be detrimental in how we see the world.
