Synopsis
This will be a last-minute informal talk on how the perception of our surroundings is easily misled, which can result in errors in collecting and interpreting data, but also potentially to missing out on discoveries because of bias. This material is part of a proposal for a potential new course I am preparing for science students on cognitive thinking and problem solving. As mentioned above, given the short notice, the presentation will be very informal.
