PHIL 110 Introduction to Logic and Reasoning

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Philosophy 110 is a course in formal logic. We shall learn to construct and evaluate arguments in both natural and artificial languages, but the emphasis will be on two artificial languages we shall construct. These languages are Sentential Logic (LS) and Predicate Logic (PL). The construction of these languages will, it is hoped, served to increase our understanding of the nature of rational argument.

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Three term tests and a final exam - 25% each

 

Note: Philosophy 110 has no prerequisites.  Philosophy 110 may be applied to the Q-requirement.
