April 2024 ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Medical School Update
Navigating Forward in Approval Process
The Full Program Proposal (FPP) for the School of Medicine was approved by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies (SCUS) on April 18 and put forth to the Senate Committee on University Priorities (SCUP) for discussion and deliberation in its next meeting in May. In addition to the FPP, SCUP will also consider a motion to approve the creation of the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV School of Medicine. If the motions are approved by SCUP, they will be presented to the Senate of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV for full debate and approval in mid-May. And upon Senate approval, the motions will then be brought forward to the Board of Governors in late May for its review and approval.
Two of Three Community Engagement Sessions Completed
In recent weeks, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV hosted community engagement sessions in Surrey and Abbotsford, drawing a diverse array of community leaders who responded to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's invitation for participation. These sessions provided an invaluable opportunity for community members to share their insights and perspectives on the pressing health care needs in their areas. The next session, to be held in Hope, is scheduled for May 1.
