B.C. Government Confirms Funding
In its Budget 2024 address on February 22, the B.C. Government solidified its commitment to fund ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Medical School, marking a key step forward in ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's endeavor to establish a medical school at the Surrey campus. Read the full story here. President Joy Johnson said in a statement to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV faculty and staff on February 29, "The provincial funding through Budget 2024 allows us to forge ahead in the drive to create a medical school at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Surrey campus without drawing on the finances of the university. Full Program Proposal Submission Underway
Following the progression of curriculum planning, the Notice of Intent, submitted in January, has been approved, paving the way for the Full Program Proposal (FPP) to be submitted to the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies (SCUS) by March 15. Subject to SCUS's approval, the FPP will subsequently undergo review by the Senate Committee for University Priorities (SCUP), the Senate and, finally, the Board of Governors.
Community Engagement Sessions Scheduled
Invitations have been extended to community leaders to share their perspectives on their communities' health care needs and priorities at engagement sessions in Surrey (March 22), Abbotsford (April 3) and Hope (April 4). Stay tuned to this website for the final report.
