December 2023 ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Medical School Update

December 01, 2023

The medical school welcomes an acting associate dean, academic

The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AVMS team adds another critical senior leader to its roster as Dr. Maria Hubinette joins the team as its acting associate dean academic and special advisor. She will provide leadership for the development and implementation of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education programs and accreditation within the school. As a practicing family physician, her clinical work focuses on youth and women, particularly outreach to youth with barriers to accessing care, community-based mental health support and specialized care for sexual and gender-based violence survivors.

In addition, the search for the founding dean continues, and the search committee has finalized the position description and candidate profile.

The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Medical School launches its engagement website

The interim, engagement-focused website is intended to share information, build awareness for the medical school’s many audiences and serve as a digital hub for community engagement activities planned this winter and spring. While this website uses ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV branding, it is not an official Faculty site. The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Medical School will remain in its planning and development phase until it receives Senate and Board of Governor approvals and an anticipated funding announcement from the provincial government next spring.
