Focus of research

Sociolinguistics; World Englishes; linguistic landscapes; multilingualism; discourse analysis

Interests

My research interests are in the fields of World Englishes and Sociolinguistics. My PhD research is primarily focused on examining the use and diffusion of English language in non-native contexts, with an aspiration to explore more in-depth the theoretical models of World Englishes. My goal is to add another trend of research that views the impact of globalization on accelerating the spread of English language in Jordan/the Middle East.

Education

2018  Master of Applied Linguistics, Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST)

2017  Bachelor of English Language and Linguistics, Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST)

About

I am an international student from Jordan. I am currently a PhD student in the Linguistics program at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. Over the course of my life, I have realized that being exposed to English language through numerous means in a non-native English speaking country is a thriving experience, yet it made me ask several questions about how the English language has become widespread across the world. For this reason, I was determined that linguistics would be my sole objective.
