Biography

I am a settler scholar from Treaty 4 territory in Southern Saskatchewan, and have been living as an uninvited guest on Coast Salish territory since 2009. I received my Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology) at the University of Regina in 2006, and Master of Arts (Anthropology) at Carleton University in 2008. Most recently, I received an interdisciplinary PhD in Communications, Art, and Technology at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV (2022). My PhD dissertation is titled .

I have been teaching in ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Department of Indigenous Studies since 2018, and have a significant amount of experience teaching Introductory courses, as well as courses on Indigenous art, digital heritage, and cultural heritage stewardship. In addition to, and pre-dating my teaching duties, I have been a mainstay at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Bill Reid Centre since 2009. I was the center’s Interim Director from 2014 to 2018, and currently hold the position of Associate Director.

My research focuses on the artistic expressions and material and visual belongings of Coastal First Peoples, Indigenous heritage stewardship, and the intersections of new media and Indigenous cultural heritage.
