The group spent 2 weeks in Cordoba with side trips to Seville and other local sites of interest and 1 week in Granada, the site of Alhambra and the final Muslim presence in Spain.
Summer 2016: Italy
Summer 2016 saw students visiting multiple Italian cities: Bologna, Venice, Tuscany, Florence, and Rome, over a 3-week period to explore the theme of "Italy in the Ancient and Modern Imagination." Summer 2014: Berlin, Germany
For 3 weeks in May of Summer 2014, the GLS cohort was in one of the most dynamic and culturally creative cities in Europe: Berlin. The group explored the history and culture of Berlin in the 20th and 21st centuries, focusing on the Weimar era, National Socialist period, WWII, Cold War, and post-unification Germany. In addition to seminars and lectures, they watched films and went on field trips to museums, historical sites, and cultural venues, which provided them with an interdisciplinary and contextual learning experience.
