Michael Fellman Essay Prize

Biography

Michael Fellman was an ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV History Professor and a War Historian.

He helped found the Graduate Liberal Studies Program with Stephen Duguid and Evan Alderson in 1990.

Michael taught courses for GLS starting in 1993, drawing on his experience as an historian and looking at philosophical, psychological and sociological implications of how society breaks down during war.

Michael was the Director of the GLS Program from 2000 to 2006 and remained on the Steering Committee and taught for the program until 2009. Michael passed away in 2012.

The Michael Fellman Essay Prize was established in 2013 to support a student in both ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV History Dept. and the GLS Program each year – funding is awarded to the student who submits the best essay for each academic calendar year.
