March 8th is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of women and recognize the ongoing work of creating a more equitable and inclusive society.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences invites you to join us as we celebrate the achievements of women within the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV community, challenge gender stereotypes and biases against women, and work towards gender equity.

Here are a few of the events organized for International Women's Day this year at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV:

| Mar. 6-8

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV VentureLabs will be partnering with WEKH BC (Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub) to host their Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. Help showcase incredible women who lead various industries by nominating them to be included in the event.

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Public Square is hosting a conversation between Amanda D. Watson, lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, and Michelle Eliot, host of CBC Radio One's BC Today. They will discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed and intensified the challenges of the idealized version of motherhood in The Juggling Mother.

Walking the Red Road: Ending Gender-Based Violence in Our Community | Mar. 8, 3-4pm

Organized by ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Ceremonies and Events, three incredible Indigenous leaders will discuss the realities of gender-based violence in communities and teach us about the spiritual pathway to wellness and healing: the 'Red Road.’
