間眅埶AV English Congratulates Summer 2021 Undergraduate Award Winners

The Department of English celebrates the achievements of its undergraduate students who have won awards this summer.

1. Sophia Dobischok: Dr. M. Sheila O'Connell Undergraduate Prize in Children's Literature

Sophia won the prize for her "charged and fascinating" art project, "A Place Above Permanence," which was a creative exploration of Louise Fitzhughs story, Nobodys Family is Going to Change, and her accompanying explanatory essay.   

2. Nastaran Ebizadeh Eiredmousa: Roy Miki Award in Creative Writing

Nastaran's writing is described as "sophisticated, fearless, and impeccably composed. She engages with vital social themes in a style that is both penetrating and deeply compassionate."

3. Cassidy Ewart: Betty Lambert Memorial Prize

Cassidy received the award for her short, unpublished play Christina of Markyate - The Escape, which is described as "a fascinating synthesis of contemporary dramatic writing and medieval research."

4. Chlo禱 Falez: Paul Delany Graduation Award in English

5. Daniel Geddes: Sheila Delany Essay Award in Early Literature

Daniel won the award for his "smart and engagingly written" essay, "Mutable Truths: Feminist Epistemology and the Revelations of Julian of Norwich."  

6. Emeralde O'Donnell-Nathe: Gordon R. Elliott Award in Writing and Rhetoric

Emeralde is described as an "exceptional student and spokesperson" for the Writing and Rhetoric Certificate program.

7. Caroline Therrien: Jane Austen Society Prize

Caroline received the prize for her essay, "Persuasion at Sea: An Exploration of Jane Austen and The British Navy," which "used wide-ranging and intensive research."

8. Angela Wachowich: Philippa Polson Memorial Prize in English

Angela received the prize for her essay, "Time to be Wiser: Hester Thrale Piozzis 'Piozziana', which is described as "an exceptional and elegant achievement of research and writing."
