Faculty Postings
Assistant Professor in Indigenous Literatures and Cultures
The below posting is a junior faculty position. Only those eligible to be appointed or promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor will be considered. The position is subject to availability of funding. Please see the attached PDF below for further details.

Salary - Pay Transparency Act
Faculty salaries at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Faculty Association. A reasonable estimate of the salary range is as follows:
- Instructor (ABD Candidates): $98,340 - $104,700
- Assistant Professor: $104,700 - $133,322

Sessional Instructor Postings
Please note that all Sessional Instructor positions involve membership in the ; and are subject to sufficient enrollment in the course, and FINAL budgetary authorization. The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Department of English follows Article XIV (E.2) of the when hiring Sessional Instructors.
For fall term, Sessional Instructor positions will be posted in the preceding May and advertised for two weeks. For spring term, sessional instructor positions will be posted in the preceding October and advertised for two weeks. For summer term, sessional instructor positions will be posted in the preceding February and advertised for two weeks.
Salary - Pay Transparency Act
The Sessional Instructor of the posted position for Fall 2024 will receive a salary of $10,442. Salaries are determined based on the total number of weekly contact hours (including the 1.25 contact hours for initial and ongoing preparation). For a more comprehensive understanding of the compensation structure, please consult the TSSU Collective Agreement for detailed information on wage schedules.
Teaching Assistant (TA) & Tutor Marker (TM) Postings
Information about Teaching Assistant and Tutor Marker postings, practices, and timelines
For all TA/TM positions, postings shall occur on the Monday of the tenth (10) week prior to the commencement of the semester; when the Monday falls on a statutory holiday or when the University is closed, the next working day shall be used.
Duties and responsibilities of Tutor Markers can be found on Article XV: Distance Education Tutor/Marker in the . Please also note that Tutor Markers are expected to invigilate all scheduled exams. Exam schedules can be found on the .
Please note: TA/TM appointments for the Spring 2025 (1251) semester run from January 6th, 2025 to April 30th, 2025. Spring term classes run from January 3rd, 2025 to April 9th, 2025. Please note you may be required to invigilate exams during the exam period. The exam period for the fall term is from April 22nd, 2025 to April 26th, 2025.
Salary Range - Bill 13 Pay Transparency Act:
The salary range for TA positions varies from GTA 1, which includes a salary of $6303 and a $905 scholarship, to GTA 2, which comprises a $6303 salary and a $2055 scholarship. Salaries are determined based on the TA's level of education and assigned term workload (base units). For a more comprehensive understanding of the compensation structure, please consult the TSSU Collective Agreement for detailed information on wage schedules.

The Charles Olson Award in English
The Charles Olson Award in English, valued at $4,000, supports an individual whose research interests or publication plans involve study of the Charles Olson collection in ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Library's Special Collections. Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, and external applicants are eligible for this award.
The Charles Olson Endowment Fund, established in 2011 with a generous founding gift from Ralph Maud and matching funds from the English Department, supports the Charles Olson Award in English.
Applicants for the Award will provide a brief proposal outlining the nature of their research on the Charles Olson holdings in the Contemporary Literature Collection, and a CV.
