Welcome to the Helium Ion Microscope Facility
Sept. 2024 Update:
1. Helium Ion Microscopy Facility
The Electron Imaging and Holography Facility has become the Helium Ion Microscopy Facility. Two of the previous major microscopes (SEM/FIB and Tecnai F20) were sold or retired. The feasibility of electron holography with the Osiris STEM, and electrical probing with the Helios SEM/FIB both managed by 4DLabs are being investigated. However, Lorentz microscopy is no longer available. The Helium ion microscope (HIM, Zeiss Nanofab) remains within 4DLabs, and the Hitachi 8100 TEM is housed in the Physics Shrum Science Builiding (Rm 8414). Both are separately managed from 4DLabs.
2. Academic Rates:
- HIM and Hitachi TEM - $10/hour
- Cap: Maximum of $1000/year per PI (any number of students)
Physical Location: Technology & Science Complex (TASC2) West Wing, 4D Labs Rm 6120 Entrance through 7000 level.
Mailing Address: EIH Facility, Physics Dept.
