Storied Lives: Celebrating Immigrant Seniors Lived Experiences

March 06, 2023

This event is co-sponsored by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s David Lam Centre and is supported by .

Storied Lives is a research project capturing immigrant seniors’ views and experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. In partnership with MOSAIC, this project brings seniors, community practitioners, and academic researchers together through storytelling to enhance our understanding about the variety of ways to support seniors’ lifelong learning, well-being, and social connectedness. Through this augmented reality-infused photo exhibition, we invite you to attend to the stories of immigrant seniors’ lived experiences during the pandemic and how community support networks and services have played a significant role in their lives. Behind each story are the profoundly important services that helped mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 on seniors and their communities. We hope this set of stories will enhance the understanding of community practitioners (e.g., program coordinators, volunteers, educators, advocates) of the critical role they play in shaping the community, strengthening their capacity to provide effective outreach, services, and programming.
