Geling Yan
Born in Shanghai, Geling Yan (‡À¸èÜß) served in the People¡¯s Liberation Army at the age of 12 as a dancer. She began writing at the age of 20 and holds a Master degree in Fine Arts in Fiction Writing from Columbia College Chicago, received many awards from Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.
Many of her works have been adapted to films and TV series, including Siao Yu£¨£©, Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl&²Ô²ú²õ±è;£¨£©, The Lost Daughter of Happiness&²Ô²ú²õ±è;£¨£©, The Criminal Lu Yanshi (, adapted to , directed by Yimou Zhang, featured by Daoming Chen and Gong Li), (, directed by Yimou Zhang), (), &²Ô²ú²õ±è;£¨£©, (£©, &²Ô²ú²õ±è;£¨£©, and The Tales of Suizi&²Ô²ú²õ±è;£¨£©. She is the recipient of several awards from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China, including the Asian Pacific Film Festival and the Golden Horse Awards.
Her works have been translated into 21 languages, including English, French, Dutch, Italian, German, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, Swedish, Uighur.
