Defending Human Rights: Resistance Against the Growing Fascism in the Philippines
Student community organizers from Sulong UBC are excited to welcome a national tour from Filipino human rights lawyer Neri Colmenares in Canada. He is currently Vice President of Confederation of Lawyers in Asia Pacific (COLAP), the National Adviser of the National Union of People鈥檚 Lawyers (NUPL) and a Council Member of the IBA Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI). Atty. Colmenares received the 2020 International Bar Association (IBA) Human Rights Award for 鈥淥utstanding Contribution by a Legal Practitioner to Human Rights鈥�.
This event is nationally supported by both Malaya Canada and ICHRP (International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines) Canada, global coalitions of solidarity and migrant organizations, committed to campaigning for human rights and Filipino people鈥檚 rights.
