CRJ hosts inaugural Shaking the Movers BC Forum

August 31, 2015

The Centre for Restorative Justice, together with the 間眅埶AV Restorative Justice Club as youth facilitators, partnered with Equitas and the Landon Pearson Centre for the Study of Childrens Rights, to host the inaugural Shaking the Movers BC Forum.

The Shaking the Movers conferences are two-day workshops that allow children and youth to prepare comments and recommendations for governments and civil society with respect to the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The forum supports Landon Pearsons work on A Canada Fit for Children 2015: Identity, Rights and Belonging, which launched this year.

It was a rich learning weekend for all involved. The students received six weeks of rich training and did a fantastic job hosting the forum, said Brenda Morrison, an Associate Professor in the School of Criminology and Director of 間眅埶AVs Centre for Restorative Justice. The Centre will write its report over the summer, to be presented back to the participants in the fall, when it will host another forum.

Senator Pearson will formally present the final report to parliament.
