Nominations are now open for the 2024 Warren Gill Award for Community Impact

The Warren Gill Award for Community Impact is named to honour the legacy of former ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Vice-President Dr. Warren Gill, who in a career spanning over thirty years helped build ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s definition of the university as an integral part of our community.

The award is provided to a faculty or staff member whose work represents a lifetime of achievement contributing to the social, economic, environmental, and/or cultural fabric of one or more of the communities ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV serves.  Faculty members, sessional lecturers, teaching staff, and administrative and support staff are eligible. When an awardee’s work significantly features a particular project or partnership, the community partner will also be honoured.

The Warren Gill Award for Community Impact is bestowed annually if a suitable candidate is nominated.  Work that characterizes strong nominees includes, but is not limited to, expanding ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s community connections, building respectful partnerships characterized by reciprocity and a mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources, increasing opportunities for dialogue, strengthening opportunities for experiential learning, and informing and inspiring important research.

Specific questions about the award can be directed to Matthew Grant, Director, Community Engagement, at communityimpact-award@sfu.ca.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, November 29, 2024.
