Ombudsperson

The Ombudsperson is an independent, impartial and confidential resource for students. Provides information and guidance on students' rights and responsibilities in relation to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV policies and practices.

Office of Student Support, Rights & Responsibilities

The Office of Student Support, Rights & Responsibilities is a resource for students.  Students can find out about their responsibilities and rights as members of the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV community, and learn about the supports available to them, along with options for addressing concerns.

Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS)

The Student Advocacy Coordinator supports undergraduates at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in academic and non-academic matters by providing assistance navigating policies and procedures, accessing resources, and options for resolutions, in a confidential manner, to create a safe and respectful space for students and working to improve their overall university experience.

The Graduate Student Society (GSS) Advocacy Office

The GSS has a dedicated staff person to help graduate students with their individual concerns. The Advocate and Policy Advisor gives advice, attends appeals, intervenes, and more, depending on the situation. This office is completely confidential. The Advocate is also available for the students who are trying to address the shared concerns of multiple students.

Health & Well-being Resources

The Bullying and Harassment case manager can provide you with guidance, resources, and personal support.

Identity-Based Support Services

If you would like to access services that may support your individual or collective identity based on race, ethnicity, culture, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability/neurodiversity, or religion/spirituality, you may wish to explore the resources available on this Health & Counselling webpage.

My Student Support Program (MySSP)

Free, confidential counselling support and wellness resources for ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV graduate and undergraduate students and advice for staff and faculty who are supporting students. Available in multiple languages, 24/7.

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Health & Counselling Services (HCS)

This team of doctors, nurses, counsellors, psychiatrists and health promotion specialists collectively and positively influence health and well-being across ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s campuses. Doctor and counselling appointments available in Burnaby and Vancouver. Counselling available by appointment in Surrey. A full range of identity-based support options are available to students.

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Critical Incident Support

A Critical Incident (or Significant Event) is a traumatic event that creates a strong emotional reaction. This reaction may interfere with an individual’s ability to manage normal day-to-day activities or have a large negative impact on the people involved or community members that have in some way been involved.
