ENGAGEMENT HIGHLIGHTS
The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Campus Planning & Development project team met with the City of Burnaby Fire Department representatives at the future site of the First Peoples Gathering House and engaged in a conversation on planning for the future building and surrounding developments. The Burnaby Fire Department is involved in the City’s permit review and approval process. This specific visit was to review fire lane access to the proposed development.
Several campus departments are preparing for the demolition of the Strand Hall Annex (SHA) temporary structure.
DESIGN UPDATE
During the month of October, design of the new building continues to be refined to a more granular level that is suitable for contractors to price the construction work.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Demolition of the Strand Hall Annex temporary structure has started in preparation for the new First Peoples’ Gathering House. Remaining salvageable items inside SHA were removed from the building. Fencing and bins will be set up in mid-November.
COMMITTEE UPDATE
The Steering Committee will be meeting in December to discuss costing and schedule updates on the project.
