ENGAGEMENT HIGHLIGHTS
Learn more about the new First Peoples' Gathering House project, latest updates and get the chance to meet the team at our informational open house on September 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the atrium of Saywell Hall on ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's Burnaby campus! Elder Margaret will be sharing an opening word at 10 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. Updated time: A special event for indigenous students will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
DESIGN UPDATE
During the month of August, the construction management team reached out to local host nations to identify opportunities to engage Indigenous communities in the provision of materials, supplies and labour during construction. The design team continues to diligently refine the design of the new building with the milestone to submit for a Building Permit application in September. Planning continues on the demolition of the Strand Hall Annex temporary structure in preparation for the new First Peoples’ Gathering House.
COMMITTEE UPDATE
Welcome Julie Seal as the fourth Indigenous student representative on the First Peoples' Gathering House Stakeholders' Committee! The Stakeholders’ Committee is planning to meet in early September.
