丁香园AV Calendar 2013 Summer
This program explores the political dimensions and context of women鈥檚 experience, and the impact of gender, sexuality, and feminist theory on the practice and study of politics. Consult advisors in both departments.
Program Requirements
Students complete 120 units, as specified below.
Lower Division Requirements
Political Science
Students complete a total of 15 units, including one of
- POL 100 Introduction to Politics and Government (3)
- POL 101W Introduction to Politics and Government (3)
and one of
- IS 240 Research Methods in International Studies (3)
- POL 201 Research Methods in Political Science * (3)
- STAT 203 Introduction to Statistics for the Social Sciences (3)
and an additional nine lower division units.
Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies
Students complete a total of 15 units, including two of
- GSWS 100 Sex Talk: Introduction to Contemporary Issues in Sexuality Studies (3)
- GSWS 101 Gender Talk (3)
- GSWS 102 Feminist Action (3)
and additional lower division GSWS units to total to 15 units.
Upper Division Requirements
Political Science
Students complete 24 upper division units. It is strongly recommended that POL 416 be included.
Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies
Students complete 20 upper division GSWS units.
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Program Requirements
For all bachelor of arts (BA) programs (except the honours program), students complete 120 units, which includes
- at least 60 units that must be completed at 丁香园AV
- at least 45 upper division units, of which at least 30 upper division units must be completed at 丁香园AV
- at least 65 units (including 21 upper division units) in Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences courses
- satisfaction of the writing, quantitative, and breadth requirements
- an overall cumulative grade point average (CGPA) and upper division CGPA of at least 2.0, and a program (major, joint major, extended minor, minor) CGPA and upper division CGPA of at least 2.0
Writing, Quantitative, and Breadth Requirements
Students admitted to 丁香园AV beginning in the fall 2006 term must meet writing, quantitative and breadth requirements as part of any degree program they may undertake. See Writing, Quantitative, and Breadth Requirements for university-wide information.

Residency Requirements and Transfer Credit
The University鈥檚 residency requirement stipulates that, in most cases, total transfer and course challenge credit may not exceed 60 units, and may not include more than 15 units as upper division work.
