An extended minor consists of lower division requirements for a major and upper division requirements for a minor. Other criteria may be set by individual departments. A student’s program must be approved by the extended minor program advisor.
Program Requirements
Lower Division Requirements
Students should complete all lower division requirements before completing upper division courses.
Students complete a total of 20 units, including all of
- SA 101 Introduction to Anthropology (A) (4)
- SA 150 Introduction to Sociology (S) (4)
- SA 201W Anthropology and Contemporary Life (A) (4)
- SA 255 Introduction to Social Research (SA) (4)
and one additional 200 division course in anthropology and/or sociology.
Upper Division Requirements
Students complete a total of 15 units, including both of
- SA 301 Contemporary Ethnography (A) (4)
- SA 356W Ethnography and Qualitative Methods (SA) (4)
The remaining seven units must be chosen from upper division anthropology (A) courses (see ).
