¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Calendar 2012 Summer
Student who are completing a major in communnication, or in another program, may choose to complete this minor that focusses on various aspects of publishing (books, magazines, journals), in Canada and the rest of the world. Completion of this minor will be an asset for students who are intending to undertake a master of publishing degree, or to work in this field.
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV is subject to enrolment limitations.
Applicants will have a minimum 2.50 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) or transfer grade point average (GPA) upon lower division requirements completion. A minimum 2.25 CGPA is required to remain in good standing. Those who do not maintain this requirement may be dropped from the program, but may apply for readmission at a later date.

Students complete four of the following, each with a C- grade or better. No more than two from each discipline are permitted for credit.

- CMNS 240-3 The Political Economy of Communication
- ECON 103-4 Principles of Microeconomics
- ECON 105-4 Principles of Macroeconomics
- ENGL 210-3 Writing and Critical Thinking
- LING 100-3 Communication and Language
- LING 110-3 The Wonder of Words
- LING 160-3 Language, Culture, and Society
Upper Division Requirements
Students complete a total of at least 16 units, chosen from

- CMNS 437-4 Media Democratization: From Critique to Transformation
- CMNS 472-4 Books, Markets and Readers
- CMNS 473-4 Publication Design and Print Production
- CMNS 474-4 The Business of Publishing
- CMNS 478-4 Publishing Project Group
- PUB 371-4 The Structure of the Book Publishing Industry in Canada
- PUB 372-4 The Publishing Process
Upper division CMNS courses completed for this minor may not be used toward the School of Communication’s honours, joint major, major, extended minor or minor programs.
