間眅埶AV Requirements

To be admitted, students must possess a bachelor's degree and have been admitted to the Professional Development Program (option A) or admitted to the Professional Linking Program (option B).

Program Requirements

Option A

Students in this option, who will have been admitted to the Professional Development Program, will complete a total of 45 upper division units in education. Any additional course work needed to address academic requirements for a professional certificate and additional requirements to complete a minor must be completed over and above the required 45 upper division units.

Students complete all of

  • EDUC 401W-8 Introduction to Classroom Teaching
  • EDUC 402W-7 Studies of Educational Theory and Practice
  • EDUC 404 Coursework Seminar (15 EDUC upper division units minimum will be completed within this course)
  • EDUC 405-15 Teaching Semester
  • a minor from the Faculty of Education (see below)

Option B

Students in this option, who will have been admitted to the Professional Linking Program, will complete a total of 48 upper division units in education. Any additional course work needed to address academic requirements for a professional certificate and additional requirements to complete a minor must be completed over and above the required 48 upper division units.

Students complete all of

BC College of Teachers Requirements

It is the student's responsibility to ensure that they meet the BC College of Teachers requirements for a Professional Teaching Certificate.

Writing, Quantitative, and Breadth Requirements

Students admitted to second degrees are deemed to have met all of the breadth requirements, the lower-division W of the two required W courses, and one of the two required Q courses.  The remaining W and Q courses must be a minimum of 3 units each; the W course must be upper division and within the major, while the Q course may be upper division orlower division.

Residency Requirements and Transfer Credit

Students who are pursuing a second bachelor's degree are advised that the normal upper division residency requirement applies, which is that at least two thirds of the upper division course work for the degree must be completed at 間眅埶AV.

In addition to the courses listed above, students should consult an academic advisor to plan the remaining required elective courses.
