REEL 75 COMMENTARY
1. Idling diesel engines, distant with quiet high whine. Quite nice.
2. A soundscape masterpiece. This sequence epitomizes the concept of acoustic ecology: the frogs are responsive to the sounds around them as well as to themselves. They react to the passing intrusive car and wait until a lead voice starts again.
0'40" distant car approaching.
0'55" it peaks and frogs stop dead!
1'30" lead frog decides "coast is clear" and starts up again.
2'50" car is still audible in distance.
5'15" train-like rhythm in distance, recurs throughout at very low level.
9'45" distant jet appears over horizon.
