REEL 88 COMMENTARY
1. The wind is dieing down by this time and halfway through the take it does not come up again. Occasionally a car is passing at high speed.2. The whistle is loud and clear with an odd "dry" echo -- almost like a different whistle coming back. Bell ringing before train whistle starts.
3. Recordists talking to giggly girls. Very reverberant space.
4. Noisy people, noisy machines, noisy space. Unspecific general ambience in reverberant space, which makes it sound very chaotic.
5. More clearly a bowling ambience. Still very noisy and restless between bowling and people sounds.
6. Quite different from bowling: not as much activity. You can hear individual rocks sliding across the ice, booming reverberation, voices of players and their sweeping. At 4'50" the pitter pat of old broom followed by whomping slap of the new one. Very, very reverberant space. Great.
7. Same as above, with changed levels. Take opens sounding like rhythmic distant thunder. Great.
