Postdoctoral Fellow Profile: Neethu Parvathy
Postdoctoral fellow in the
Neethu is an ethnographer who specializes in Economic Sociology, Gender, and Indigenous Studies. Passionate about understanding and mapping solutions for the empowerment challenges people in minority communities face, she has lived in the remotest villages of India, immersing herself in their culture to understand the impediments to their economic progress. She continues her ethnographic study among the minority communities in Vancouver, Canada. Awards and recognitions: ICSSR doctoral fellowship, university rank holder.

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV is one of the most research-intensive universities and I was confident I would get all the resources and help I need to build my research.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
I study how cultural and colonial backgrounds have shaped the economic pursuits of artisans and entrepreneurs from minority communities.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?
I love the wide collection of books at the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV campus and the wide work spaces and facilities it offers.
