In an interview with , Professor Anil (Andy) Hira says that B.C. needs to prepare for a massive influx of electricity demand in seven to ten years by investing in clean energy projects now.

Hira points out that BC Hydro鈥檚 Site C hydroelectric dam will only create enough additional power to last B.C. for a decade, saying the project has been a huge debacle.

鈥淚t was poorly sited, there was a lack of transparency, the consultants they used didn鈥檛 properly look at the foundations,鈥� he says. 鈥淪o there are huge cost overruns. The end result of that cost overrun is that BC Hydro, already a very secretive and kind of closed organization basically shut down its incipient program to fund new sources of renewable energy.鈥�
