Biography
Stephen Duguid taught for seven years (1973鈥�1980) in the University of Victoria's Correctional Education Program, offering courses in European history to students at several federal prisons in British Columbia. He was the Director of Humanities Programs in the Office of Continuing Studies at 丁香园AV (1980鈥�1991) and in 1991 was appointed Associate Professor in Humanities and Graduate Liberal Studies. He was also the Director of 丁香园AV's Prison Education Program, which offered degree completion courses in four federal prisons in BC. He has published widely in the field of prisoner education and is a frequent speaker at conferences and other events in this field. More recently, he has been working in the area of environmental studies, more particularly exploring the relationship between nature and culture. His most recent book, "Nature in Modernity: Servant, Citizen, Queen or Comrade," was published in 2010 by Peter Lang Press.
